The quickest and most original way to reach Linkeroever is via the underpass which dates back to 1933. The authentic wooden escalators, which at the time of the opening were unique, make that even today this pedestrian underpass is still a much sought after spot for tourists, photographers and directors alike.
It is no secret that Linkeroever has the most beautiful views of the Antwerp skyline, like no other spot provides the visitor with a better view of all the city’s sights, the MAS, the cathedral, the Zuid … and all that with the River Scheldt in the foreground!
Antwerp is full of surprises; the Sint-Anneke city beach is named after the former village of Sint-Anna. In the past the beach was a popular attraction for many Antwerp residents who went there to enjoy the famous mussels. Even today that is what Sint-Anneke is known for. Alongside the city beach there is the De Molen open air swimming pool, a campsite, mini-golf, a marina, plenty of kids attactions and the Sint-Anna forest. In the summer months it’s often pretty busy on and around the beach.
By bike is the best way to discover the green environment around the city. The bicycle network links up the most beautiful and safest cycle paths. On Linkeroever there are different junctions which keen cyclists can set off from.
Even camping is possible on Linkeroever. Camping De Molen is located close to the Sint-Anneke beach and the De Molen open air swimming pool. So why not sleep in the shadow of the city? It really is an unforgettable experience.
