Once an old school snack bar, now a relaxed espresso bar in the center of Antwerp. Italian machine, Belgian roast, Hungarian barista.
For a lot of people, coffee is a yesyes. They wake up in the morning, they drink their coffee and yeah 'button' is switched on. Eyes are wide open, the right thoughts are coming in, the decisions start to flow in. I’m sure you all know them, those people who can’t think or hear anything, just because that coffee is still not pouring through their body. Coffee is also a “meeting culture”. And coffee made with love is just that kind of a meeting culture we all need. Now, I was hooked and I tried to quit, I don’t have a coffee machine, but from time to time, I am craving for a coffee. Last time I had this feeling, I walked over to Kolonel Koffie. I’m having this great conversation with Kobe, the owner, about coffee of course, and all of the sudden : Marci, THE Hungarian barista walks in. Now I’m saying THE Hungarian barista because people urged me to go taste his coffee . So Marci sits there and starts talking to Kobe about his new place: the opening is tomorrow. It would have never come to mind that these great baristas go to each other’s coffeebar just because they really like each other's coffee but also each other’s company. I can't wait to write more about Hopland but in the meantime: R u in need for some coffee? Do u need a Marci refill? You can find out more here:
