We’re not like farmer's market heaven Portland yet but Antwerp is getting more initiatives supporting small farmers and producers. One of them is MARTA. I had to go and take a look! I absolutely loved it!
It’s getting harder and harder for small scale producers to get the right price for their products or to compete with bigger companies. At the same time people like to know more about the origin of their food and the story of the people producing it. That’s why MARTA offers fresh, honest, healthy (and yummie!) products at a fair price, offered directly by its makers (or a passionate representative).
No worries when you don’t plan on cooking yourself: at MARTA you can also get your tasting groove on at one of the many food stalls spread around the market. Discover Les Odettes’ feel good food, dot.HOGS’ not so ordinary hot dogs, Bitterzoet’s delicious chocolate and many more...
In short: MARTA It’s the ideal Saturday pitstop when exploring the city. You’ll discover new things, eat well and support local entrepreneurship. For now there are two more MARTAs planned:
● 12/09 Location: TBC (in 2140)
● 10/10 Location: Zuiderpershuis
