There’s a new kid in town and it’s called , which is a Dutch term used for removing dump and dirt from the bottom of waterways. It also means shit, in a way to express the way you feel about something. But it is definitely not a word you think of when you enter this little hide-away at Kattendijkdok. B a g g e r opened its doors a few weeks ago but is already a new hotspot for anyone who likes to visit the ‘not- so-mainstream’ places.
In the building where Stulp had its pop-up place for 3 months, Tom Aerts and Sven Mes now have started a new Antwerp diamond. Located inside the old historic customs building, in the new and upcoming area of 't Eilandje, you wouldn’t expect a place that cosy. The red light in the hallway, the space that divides the building in two, gives some extra warmth to the interior. On the right side is the bar and on the left side of the building are some high tables. Sounds like it has quite some space, but you will be surprised. It has some sort of industrial look, but it’s still very welcoming.
Don’t expect DJ’s to be playing with their MP3 playlists; it’s a vinyl-only bar, which is pretty awesome. You will hear music adjusted to the vibes created by the crowd. So make sure you got the right vibe when entering. The album covers of the music played will be projected on one of the walls, so you know what music you are dancing (or just sitting) to. Besides the vinyl there will also be live music every now and then.
Keep updated and follow them on . Oh and don’t forget to take a look at their page. It will give you a pretty good idea of the atmosphere you can expect.
Although it might seem as a long distance to go here, especially with fall around the corner, you will not regret it. The moment you enter you don’t want the leave. Nothing B a g g e r about that!
