Every weekend I like to expand my horizon by doing something unique. For example by partaking in a play or by going to an extraordinary party or, like this weekend, to visit the art Expo with after party “Live aus Köln”.
I must say, when I heard about this event, I was thrilled. Not only because I truly love a good party after some cultural expansion, but also because I’m absolutely in love with this venue. is one of the most unique places in town because it reminds me so much of the underground scene in Berlin or Budapest. The building itself looks like it’s still under construction which gives the whole place an industrial vibe. Nevertheless, they added some natural elements to the Bosbar in order to relate to their nametag because ‘het Bos’ actually translates into ‘the forest’ . So a few branches here and there , a few pots with plants and kadaboom a unique bar was born!
So me and my man walked into het Bos and we were guided by the arrows on the floor directing us straight to the exposition. The expo itself was mainly an audiovisual art representation. Imagine big screens and lots of art installations. These works were created by students and graduates of the Kunsthochschule för Medien Köln, it covered a very wide range actually, from narrative-documentary to abstract-experiment.
My personal favorite was the installation by Thomas Reul. It was called Clapotis and the installation was made so that multiple images together created a moving image. I could see the ocean waves moving and I was mesmerized by the simplicity and the complexity at the same time. The other installations and movies were also very moving and made you think about life, the universe and everything else in a rather philosophic way.Afterwards it was time for a little drink in the Bosbar (note: they have their own brand of beer! Must try!) and time to dance dance dance!
This event was actually the warm-up for the festival that will take place next year, dasFestivalKöln, so be sure to stay connected to the organization ( ) so you can be there next year!
