Don't know what to do on a beautiful early summer Saturday like today in A-Town? I got you, fam! In 2015, 7 twenty-somethings, all in the music and creative industries, got together and decided that festivals are great, but could be a little bit better and most of all, a little bit greener. So it began and after a hugely successful first edition, today'll be the second annual KleinHouse Open Air festival! Location? The grounds of the Noordkasteel, a green oasis right here in Antwerp city.
So what should you expect? Think green, think boutique festival, think a mix of musical genres, food, laidback atmosphere and a mix of international and local talent. If you want to showcase your own talents, you can because Klein House is hosting Open Deck sessions throughout the festival day.
When I say think green, I mean it! Natuurpunt (the leading Flemish nature conservation organisation) is Klein Houses partner for preserving nature in and around the location venue Noordkasteel. To protect the habitat of the local fauna, they're helping clean up before and after the festival. Klein House is using only re-usable eco-friendly cups for drinks, vegan food will be served, the festival set-up is completely eco-friendly and created with only wooden and second-hand materials... So this is the best excuse to party it up for the sake of our planet you'll ever have!
Anyone who knows me knows this part was coming. My favorite DJ on the line-up has to be Hush Hefner, who's personally responsible for at least 10 dance-related injuries I've had over the course of the past year alone. Resident and host of the Hush Hush R&B/Rap/Classic/Goodies parties in and around Antwerp, Hush Hefner is on a mega-boom this summer season, which will see him play at internationally renowned festivals like Tomorrowland and Pukkelpop. Hush Hush is even hosting their own STAGE (!) at Tomorrowland next month. Are you kidding me?! So catch him while you still can my dear Antwerp visitors and locals, preferably on a day like today.
Over 14 acts, 4 open-air “rooms” and one heck of a beautiful location. Starts today at noon. Get your tickets at the door!
