Hey,It’s your friends from USE-IT again, writing another small blogpost for This Is Antwerp. Today we’d like to celebrate Dimitri Sakelaropolus, a name no one at USE-IT can pronounce properly. Luckily the man also has a moniker that’s a bit easier: Jango Jim. Now THAT we can pronounce. Dimitri is one of those young Antwerpian artists that always smuggle the absurd and the funny into their art. Jango will easily draw a birdhouse robot, a soupmarine and construct a 3D model of the atomium made out of potatoes and toothsticks. All in the same day.

Dimitri has done a lot of work for USE-IT. He was the one drawing octopusses on the Map of Antwerp, edition 2010, but he’s also done maps of Leuven and Mechelen for us. In fact he’s finishing another Map of Brussels, as we speak.

A couple of years ago – when USE-IT was handing out free train tickets to Antwerp in our Brussels info desk – Jango designed a miniature-trainride in the middle of our office. At least one time a day a tourist stepped on Jango’s artwork – of course.

Also: Jango did a really nice mural in our Brussels info desk in Brussels.

If you want to know why we love Jango so much: have a look at this .

Want to see more? A Tiger God Iceberg Machine? A drawing on ‘Extreme Sitting’? Hypno Boobies? It’s all on Jango’s blog:
