Events December

Traditionally the best is always saved for last. In December Antwerp gears up for a festive month, full of Christmas markets and concerts, with a bunch of original events for adults and kids alike. A delicious glass of Elixir d’Anvers or mulled wine will help you warm up on those cold winter days. The spectacular fireworks on New Year’s Eve bring to the year to a close.

Overview

Many of the shops in the historical city centre are open every first Sunday of the month. Performances and small mobile events like the Antwerp Fashion Festival and Models on Wheels make Sunday shopp ing an even more memorable experience.

Nothing is more fun than a market.You get a taste of the city and its local offerings.Antwerp has several weekly and monthly markets spread all over the city.They’re highly recommended for those who w ant to experience the real Antwerp.

Throughout the year, you can hear the carillon play between 12.00 p.m. and 1.00 p.m. every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at the Cathedral of Our Lady. Extra concerts are organised on Monday evenings d uring the warmer months.

The Cathedral of Our Lady is the proud owner of four masterpieces by Rubens.
